BassMap Privacy Policy

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy outlines how BassMap (“the App”) handles user privacy and device permissions. BassMap is designed to assist users in identifying optimal placements for surround sound loudspeakers. Because the App operates completely standalone without user accounts, cloud dependencies, or external analytics, your data remains 100% private to your local device. BassMap maps relative acoustic differences across a room. The app works without an account, advertising, analytics, tracking SDKs, or a BassMap cloud service. ExpoWizard does not collect or receive personal data, room maps, audio, or usage information from the app.

2. Data Collection and Usage

We do not collect, store, or process any personal or usage data.

  • No Personal Information: We do not ask for, collect, or store your name, email address, phone number, location, or payment details.

  • No Account Required: BassMap is a one-time purchase application. You do not need to register, create an account, or log in to use any of its audio placement features.

  • No Analytics or Tracking: We do not integrate third-party analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or telemetry tools. We do not track your usage, acoustic measurements, or interactions within the app.

BassMap processes the following information only to provide its features:

-Camera and motion data:  Apple ARKit uses the camera and device motion to map room geometry and track each measurement position. BassMap does not save camera images or video.
-Microphone audio: BassMap listens to the room’s response to controlled test signals. Raw microphone audio is analyzed in real time and is not saved. The app stores derived acoustic measurements with the scan on your device.
-Room maps and scan details: Derived acoustic measurements, detected geometry, walking paths, room-object markers, names, and notes are stored locally in the app’s container.
-Audio route information: BassMap reads the output route selected through Apple’s audio controls so it can play and identify the measurement signal. It does not directly scan for Bluetooth devices and does not request location access.
-Local network access: iOS may request local-network permission when connecting to compatible playback systems such as AirPlay devices. BassMap does not operate a server or transmit measurements to ExpoWizard.

3. Data Retention and Deletion

Scans remain on your device until you delete them. Deleted scans remain recoverable in BassMap’s trash until you empty the trash. Removing the app also removes data in its app container, subject to your device backups and Apple’s backup behavior.

4. Device Permissions (Bluetooth Access)

To perform its primary functionality—identifying, connecting to, and mapping optimal speaker placements—BassMap requires permission to access your device’s Bluetooth functionality.

  • Purpose: Bluetooth access is used solely to discover, connect to, and measure signal performance across nearby wireless surround sound loudspeakers and subwoofers.

  • Local Processing: All Bluetooth signals, speaker identifier tags, and audio latency/measurement data are processed strictly in real-time on your physical device. No speaker data or room information is ever transmitted off your device or saved to external servers.

5. Location Data

On certain mobile operating systems, scanning for nearby Bluetooth devices requires system-level Location permissions due to legacy OS security models. BassMap utilizes Bluetooth exclusively for speaker detection and acoustic positioning. We do not collect, monitor, or store your GPS location or geographic position.

6. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

Since we do not gather or store any data, we do not sell, trade, rent, or transfer any user or device data to third parties. There are no third-party APIs, ad networks, or cloud databases integrated into BassMap. BassMap contains no advertising or analytics SDKs and does not track you across apps or websites. ExpoWizard does not sell or share BassMap data because the app does not send that data to ExpoWizard.

7. Children’s Privacy

BassMap does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The application is completely safe for general audiences.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect app enhancements or legal requirements. Any revisions will be published within future app updates or on our official distribution channels.
